MANILA, Philippines–Two-time Olympian boxer Eumir Marcial on Saturday refuted accusations of infidelity and abuse made by his wife Princess.

Marcial, a bronze medalist at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, is in hot water after he was supposedly caught by Princess with an alleged mistress in a condominium in Pasay three months ago.

Princess said she and her sister had Marcial and the other woman arrested and the two were detained for five days.

“I caught Eumir having an affair in October last year. I, along with my sister, have personally caught them inside an Airbnb condominium in Pasay where we had them both arrested at a police station. Eumir and his mistress, Jessa both had to be temporarily detained for 5 days,” Princess wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday detailing Marcial’s alleged infidelity.

“Currently, I’ve managed to maintain some correspondence with some of our mutual and trusted friends in Zamboanga City where they alluded that Eumir and his mistress have decided to live together.”

“For these obvious reasons, I had to go on separate ways with Eumir and severed all sources of communication with him after all the trauma, manipulation, emotional stress, physical abuse, and psychological torment that I had to endure these past few months and throughout our years of being together.

By the end of the session, the Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) slipped by 0.58 percent or 40.49 points to 6,882.92.

Marcial, though, said in an interview with local reporters in Zamboanga that he was merely “defending himself” in response to Princess’ allegations of physical abuse.

“Unang-una, hindi totoo lahat ng mga sinabi niya sa akin,” Marcial said in a video posted by 89.9 Brigada Zamboanga on Facebook.

“Dahil unang-una kung sinasaktan ko siya bakit siya magkakaroon ng pasa na ganong pasa lang? Bakit siya magkaroon ng pasa sa paa? Dahil siya yung sumasaktan sa akin, pino-protektahan ko lang yung sarili ko na wag niya akong saktan,” he added. “Kung sinasaktan ko siya, do you think ganoon lang mangyayari sa kanya? Aksidente yung nangyari na yon kasi pinoprotektahan ko sarili ko.”

Marcial also denied Princess’ claims that he withdrew their savings to build a house himself and the woman that his wife mentioned in Zamboanga.

“Hindi po totoo yun. Unang-una, yung joint account namin, nasa kanya. Hawak niya ngayon. Yung lahat ng titulo ng bahay namin sa Maynila, mga property namin nasa kanya at yung sinasabi niyang pinapatayuan ko ng bahay yung babae, hindi yon totoo. Mismo nga tatay ko, magulang ko hindi ko mapatayuan ng bahay,” he said.

“After Olympics, hindi ko man lang nabigyan ng maayos na pamumuhay magulang ko. Yung tatay ko hindi ko naman nabilhan ng sasakyan para maayos makapunta sa ospital, magpa-checkup. Gusto ko mapakita sa taong bayan kung anong totoong mangyari.”

Marcial added he tried to talk to Princess in hopes of an amicable separation.

“Doon ko naramdaman na hindi lang pagmamahal ang gusto niya sa akin. Kasi personal matter ‘to eh, bakit pa kailangan ng media? Maayos ako nakipaghiwalay sa kanya, maayos akong nagsabi sa kanya na i-settle natin ‘to. Kung ano yung property na meron ako sa Manila, hatiin namin, ayusin namin ‘to,” he said.

“Bakit ayaw niya? Bakit niya pa gusto bakit niya pa gusto dalhin dito na may media. gusto pa niya kumuha ng simpatya sa taong bayan na niloko siya, sinaktan siya. Gumawa pa ng story, lahat ng sinabi niya sa report, social media hindi yon totoo.”

The 29-year-old Marcial claimed the other woman was a “friend” and they were not living alone together.

“Yung babae na nakita nila sa picture, kaibigan ko yun. Isang beses na pinuntahan ko taga Zamboanga siya eh. Nagkita kami sa Makati coincidence na nagikta kami. Taga-Zamboanga pala, nagkakilala, nagusap and then yon nagsama. Actually, nung nagsama kami may kasama siyang kaibigan and may kasama din ako,” he recalled.

Princess said she is collecting evidence as she pursues legal action against Marcial. The two tied the knot in 2021.

After a podium finish in Tokyo, Marcial had an uneventful return to the Olympics in Paris last year with an opening bout setback.
