The Indian openers G Trisha (17 not out off 13) and G Kamilini (8 not out off 6) had scored 28 runs without loss in 3.1 overs, before it began bucketing down at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval. Nepal were earlier restricted to 94 for nine in 20 overs, with left-arm spinner Parunika Sisodia picking up four wickets for just 12 runs off her four overs.

Though Pakistan were already out of contention and both India and Nepal had qualified for the Super Four stage, the no result meant India ended as the Group A toppers owing to a superior net run rate. India will next take on Bangladesh, while Nepal will meet Sri Lanka first up in the Super Fours.

India won the toss and elected to field first against Nepal. The toss for the game was delayed due to rain.
